Mewed up fresco 2003

I was sealed within a narrow space in the gallery that was recessed and hidden behind a wall save for a tiny spy hole through which the audience could see me. Photographs of other pieces of my work were displayed along this same viewing wall. Influenced by tales of the walled up bride from Eastern European folklore which tell of the master builder who must sacrifice his bride as an offering to appease the elements and protect his new building, using my wedding ring I repeatedly marked the walls that enclosed me: a line becoming a topography describing an inner landscape only barely visible.
